After explaining how they maintained their lead, he called out Dillon Brooks by saying:

Dillon Brooks, if you’re listening. This ain’t Memphis, man. Stop getting yourself ejected. We need you out here. We need that physicality. Jock Landale said

Dillon Brooks was ejected with 6 minutes left in the 3rd quarter after getting into a scuffle with DeMar DeRozan. Landale alluded to Brooks’ defense which kept the Bulls at bay until his ejection.

Brooks confronted the Bulls superstar after DeRozan body-checked Jalen Green. While exchanging curses, both grappled with each other and had to be separated by staff and teammates. With the frustrations of the Bulls players boiling over, the referees reviewed the entire altercation and ejected them both.

Referees issued DeMar DeRozan with a flagrant 2 for unnecessary roughness. While officials issued Brooks a technical foul and ejected him for escalating the issue. Prior to the ejections, Brooks led his team with 23 points. His defensive prowess ensured the Bulls never came within striking distance of the lead.

Dillon Brooks and the resurgent Houston Rockets

Tonight’s win against the Chicago Bulls was their 7th straight win. This month, the Houston Rockets have a 9-1 record. Although one could say that the record is mostly against non-playoff teams, they do have three significant wins in that list. The Rockets have maintained that resurgence despite being without star center Alperen Sengun.

But the base of it is still dependent on the hardnosed defense from Dillon Brooks . He has been able to implement head coach Ime Udoka’s philosophy and help his younger teammates. The Rockets are only 2.5 games away from the Golden State Warriors in 10th place.

If they continue to play this way, and Brooks is there to anchor their defense, the Rockets could make a play for higher spots. The young Rockets are resurgent, and as Jock Landale said, they need Dillon Brooks to be there for them.
