Breaking News: Coventry murder inquiry as woman dies and police cordon put up on city street
A man has been arrested on suspicion of murder after a woman died in Coventry. Police were called to Long Close Avenue in Allesley where a police cordon is in place as detectives carry out an investigation into the tragedy.
Officers were called to an address on Long Close Avenue at around 8.30pm yesterday (Wednesday, March 20). A 50-year-old woman was found with injuries.
She was confirmed dead a short time later, said West Midlands Police. A 57-year-old man, understood to be known to the woman, has been arrested and taken into custody for questioning.
Police have erected a cordon on the city street with a heightened presence expected over the coming days, said West Midlands Police. Anyone with information has been urged to call 101.
