Boston Bruins Make Multiple Roster Transactions
Following yesterday’s game against the Dallas Stars, the Boston Bruins have placed forward Matthew Poitras on Long-Term Injured Reserve , sent forward Oskar Steen to AHL Providence Bruins, and have called up defenseman Mason Lohrei from AHL Providence Bruins.
Poitras underwent shoulder surgery at the beginning of February and is expected to miss the remainder of the season; placing him on LTIR is purely salary-cap related. Poitras skated in 33 games with the Bruins in his rookie campaign, tallying 15 points and impressing Bruins management with his poise at such a young age.
Oskar Steen was placed on waivers a couple of days ago, making him eligible to be sent down to AHL Providence Bruins. Many expected the assignment following the Justin Brazeau signing, but the move didn’t come until today, making space for Mason Lohrei to be called up from the PBruins.
Lohrei’s call-up could point to a possible injury, Bruins defenseman Hampus Lindholm went down with an injury, only playing two shifts in the third period. Lohrei has already played 27 games with the Bruins this season, tallying three goals and three assists.
