Celtic manager Brendan Rodgers has raved about the teenager and has outlined what makes the midfielder so special.

Kelly has made two substitute appearances in the Scottish Premiership for the Hoops this season. He has scored one goal in those games.

Rodgers has also given a positive verdict on Rocco Vata. The 18-year-old midfielder, once linked with Arsenal, has made one substitute appearance in the Scottish Premiership for the Hoops this season.

Celtic manager Brendan Rodgers praises Daniel Kelly

BBC Sport quotes Rodgers as saying about Kelly: “I’ve been very impressed. I think it’s one of my key tasks here, to provide a pathway for our young talents to come through into the first team.

“His attitude, his commitment, the qualities that he has – I think he has a very bright future. I’m very pleased for him.

“Him and Rocco Vata have both been training with the first team for a while now and they’re both showing up well. Daniel has had the opportunity a bit more than Rocco has, but they’ve both shown quality – and more importantly to me – as young players, they’ve shown willingness to learn and develop.

“Both players have been in talks with the club, but I don’t have any update on that. My focus is always first and foremost on the young players. You’re trying to balance that with the mentality to win every single game.”

Celtic in danger of losing Scottish Premiership title

Celtic are in real danger of losing the Scottish Premiership title this season.

The Hoops are the defending champions and have been the dominant force in Scottish football for years, but there is a very good chance that Rangers could win the league this campaign.

Rangers are at the top of the Scottish Premiership title at the moment with 70 points from 29 matches. Celtic, who are keeping tabs on Rapid Vienna talents Leopold Querfeld and Matthias Seidl this summer, are second with 68 points from 29 games.

The Hoops failed to do much of note in Europe and saw Rangers win the Scottish League Cup.

Celtic, though, are still in the Scottish Cup. The Bhoys will face Aberdeen in the semi-finals in April.

Rodgers’s side have won three of their last five Scottish Premiership matches. They lost their last league game to Heart of Midlothian.
