Sad News: Super star departs from michigan.
Jon Sanderson officially resigned from the Michigan basketball program plus more in our Michigan Wolverines news roundup.
The bad news keeps coming for the Michigan basketball program. On Friday, long-time strenth and conditioning coach, Jon Sanderson, known as one of the best in the sport, officially left the program, resigning his position after agreeing to a settlement with the University of Michigan.
It was reported by the Athletic, which also reported more details on the incident between Michigan basketball head coach Juwan Howard and Sanderson earlier this season. Sanderson confronted Jace Howard about an argument he was having with a trainer.
Juwan then went after Sanderson, who wrote in an email to Warde Manuel, which was obtained by The Athletic, that Howard had to be “restrained” by players and kept pursuing a fight with Sanderson.
A Michigan Wolverines insider, John U. Bacon posted on X that “it was more likely than not” that Howard would return as Michigan basketball coach next season. But with all of the things that have happened, you wonder how? Especially when Howard was supposed to be working under a zero tolerance policy for anger issues after he punched a Wisconsin coach during the 2021-22 season.
Michigan football assistant gets new contract
Ronald Bellamy, who was the wide receivers coach for the Michigan Wolverines the past two seasons, agreed to a two-year extension with Michigan football, it was reported on Friday. In addition to a pay raise, Bellamy will now be the offensive passing game coordinator.
Michigan football players show out at NFL combine
While some Michigan Wolverines have just gone through measurements at the combine, some have also had stellar moments on the field too. Kris Jenkins earned himself some money on Thursday at the NFL combine by running a 4.94 in the 40-meter dash, which ranked fifth among defensive linemen.
On Friday, Mike Sainristil took his turn. He was measured at 5-foot-9, but ran the 40 in 4.47. He also had a 40-inch vertical leap and Jordan Reid of ESPN mentioned Sainristil as one of the biggest risers after day of the NFL combine, saying he should be a second-round pick.
